UNIVERSITY LIBRARY

The University of Uyo Library is a multi-library system with a centralized administrative structure. There are three major divisions in the library.
Library Administration comprising systems planning control and co-ordination of library activities, professional development and Uniuyo publication.
Library Resources Department comprising acquisition, processing, serials and special collection maintenance.
Library Readers Services comprising lending, reference, user education and Faculty library services.
Presently, there are five service locations:
- 1. Main Town Campus Collection [Nyong Essien Library] Servicing Faculty of Arts, Basic Medical Sciences, Social Sciences, Science and Pharmacy.
- 2. The Annexe Town Campus collection of:
[i] The Ime Uma Law Library for the Faculty of Law
[ii] The Business Library servicing Faculties of Agriculture, Business Administration and Environmental Studies
- 3. The Medical Library at the University of the University of Uyo [UUTH] servicing Faculty of Clinical Sciences.
- 4. The Main Campus Library servicing the Faculty of Engineering.
The University of Uyo Library System wherever located stocks a variety of materials in various disciplines including books, journals, magazines, compact discs and video tapes. The special collection comprises the Africana, the Nyong Essien Collection and Government Documents. There are about 54,000 volumes of books and monographs and subscription to about 900 journal titles annually. Aside from study space for about 1,500 library users and lending facilities, the Uniuyo library system offers other services such as photocopying, lamination, bindery and global information access through the internet connectivity.
