PROGRAMME OFFERED WITH ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
(a)        CERTIFICATE IN:                  French (Under School of Continuing Education)

Admission Requirements:       A minimum of three (3) credits are required. Candidates wishing to enroll in the Degree programme of the Foreign Languages Department after the Certificate course must have credit passes in a minimum of five (5) subjects including English Language at not more than two sittings in SSCE or its equivalent. In addition, these candidates must have 180 and above in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for the year in which the admission into the programme is sought. 

(b)        Bachelor of Arts B.A. in:         French (Full Time)  

Admission Requirements:       To be admitted to study for the Degree of B.A. (Hons.) in French, a candidate must, in addition to satisfying the general University and Faculty requirements, possess one or more of the following qualifications;

i)          A “Credit�? grade and above in French at the G. C. E., “O�?-Level or S. S. C. examinations (for the four-year) programme.
ii)         A “Merit�? grade and above at the University of uyo Proficiency Certificate in French Programme examination (for the four-year Programme).
iii)         A “Merit�? grade and above in French in the Nigeria Certificate in Education examination (for the three-year programme).
iv)        A “C�? grade or above in French at the G. C. E., “A�?-Level examination (for the three-year Programme).
v)         Any other qualification in French which the Foreign Languages Departmental Board          may adjudge acceptable.

(c)        Master’s degree M.A. in:      French (Full Time)
Admission Requirements:
i)          B.A. (Hons) not below Second Class Upper with French as the major subject of study, (or an equivalent qualification) obtained from a  University recognized by and acceptable to the Departmental Postgraduate Committee.

(ii)        Consideration may be given to a candidate   holding the B.A. (Hons) degree in French in the        Second Class Lower Division (or an equivalent qualification) obtained from a University        recognized by and accepted to the Departmental   Postgraduate Committee, provided that the GPA  of the candidate is not below 2.75 in a 5 point grading system.

(iii)       Consideration many be given to a candidate holding B,A, (Hons) Degree in two combined major subjects including French, at a level not below the Second Class Upper Division, provided that such a candidate shall be prepared to register for,    study and pass at a grade not below B (60%), any undergraduate courses that may be prescribed for him by the Departmental Postgraduate Committee, before registering for the M.A Programme.

(iv)       All candidates short-listed for admission by the Departmental Postgraduate Committee on the basis of the criteria in i-iii above shall appear  before the committee for the Postgraduate Admission test (D-PAT), and only those who satisfy the committee in the test shall be admitted.
