Admission Requirements

1.       Admission by UTME into B.Sc. Programme

Candidates wishing to enroll in the B.Sc. Degree programme in Computer Science must obtain at least five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics plus two other Science subjects in the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).  Candidates must also sit for and pass both the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by JAMB and the post UTME screening test conducted by the University of Uyo.  The subjects required in the UTME include English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

2.       Direct Entry Admission Requirements into the B.Sc. Programme

To qualify for Direct Entry (DE) admission, candidates must have at least any of the following, plus the University Matriculation Requirement

1. Two ‘A’ level passes in Science subjects including Mathematics in the GCE.
2. NCE with at least a merit pass in Mathematics and one other science or social science subjects
3. Diploma in Data Processing with at least a merit pass from a recognized University or ND/HND in Data processing, Engineering and Mathematics with an overall ‘B’ grade may be considered
4. ND/HND (lower credit) in relevant fields and at least NCE merit pass in Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science.

 

1. MASTER’S DEGREE M.Sc IN  COMPUTER SCIENCE

Admission Requirements

In addition to the requirements in the general regulations of the University of Uyo, admission to the M.Sc. degree programme in Computer Science is open to holders of the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Computer Science, with a minimum of second class lower with a CGPA of 2.75 and above of the University of Uyo or any other University recognized by the Senate of the University of Uyo. Holders of bachelors degrees in related subjects in science and engineering whose Mathematical background is adjudged adequate by the Department of Computer Science of the University of Uyo may also be considered for admission.  In addition to all these, a candidate is expected to have obtained a minimum of a credit pass in English Language in the Senior Certificate Examination (SSCE) or its equivalent.

 

1. POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA (PGD) IN:      COMPUTER SCIENCE

Admission Requirements

Candidates wishing to pursue a programme leading to the award of the Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Computer Science must satisfy the requirements in the general regulation governing higher degree programmes of the University of Uyo.  Admission to the Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science is open to candidates with Bachelor degree or its equivalent in Science, Engineering, Social Sciences and Environmental Sciences from the University of Uyo or any other University recognized by the senate of the University of Uyo. Holders of HND in relevant programmes from approved institutions with a minimum of Upper Credit shall also be considered.  In addition to all these, a candidate is expected to have obtained a minimum of a credit pass in English Language of the West African School Certificate (WASC) or Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or its equivalent.
