PROGRAMME OFFERED WITH ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

(a) Pre-degree:

Admission Requirements: Passes at credit level in Five subjects, which should include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics at the Ordinary Level (SSCE, WASCE, GCE, NECO). In addition, the candidate must have attempted UTME and obtained a total score of 180 and would have chosen University of Uyo as his/her first choice.

(b) Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Chemistry

Admission Requirements:

(i) UTME Candidates: Passes at credit level in Five subjects, which should include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics at the Ordinary Level (SSCE, WASCE, GCE, NECO).
(ii)Direct Entry Candidates: Possession of one of the following qualifications
Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) Upper Credit*(with two ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and any one of Physics, Maths or Biology.)
Ordinary National Diploma (OND) Upper Credit in a related field*
Higher National Diploma (HND) Lower Credit in a related field*
First degree in a related area from a recognized University.
*plus UTME requirement

(c) Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in the following areas of specialization: Analytical, Environmental, Industrial, Inorganic, Organic, Physical and Polymer Chemistry.
Admission Requirements: Admission is open to graduates of chemistry or related chemical science of the University of Uyo or graduates of other universities recognized and approved by the Senate of the University of Uyo. Such prospective students must have had at least a second-class honours degree with a CGPA of at least 2.75 on a five (5) point scale and must have had five credit passes including Chemistry, English, Physics and Mathematics at the School Certificate level.

(d) Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in the following areas of specialization: Analytical, Environmental, Industrial, Inorganic, Organic, Physical and Polymer Chemistry.
Admission Requirements: Admission is open to candidates with M.Sc. degree from the University of Uyo or any other recognized university within and outside Nigeria recognize and approved by the Senate of the University of Uyo. Such prospective students must have had five credit passes including Chemistry, Physics, English Language and Mathematics at the School Certificate level. Candidates must have successfully completed a degree programme or its equivalent in the corresponding area of study at M.Sc. level and must have passed at a level not lower than B.  Choice of courses to be offered shall depend on the candidate’s performance at the M.Sc. level and on the transcript.
