Brief Introduction of School of Continuing Education:
The School of Continuing Education (SCE) was established in September 2001 to offer opportunities for formal education through Full-time Certificate Courses, and Diploma programmes and Part-time Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes. The School coordinates these programmes through the various specialized academic departments in the University offering Full-time Undergraduate and Postgraduate studies.
Apart from sub-degree programmes (Certificate and Diploma), the requirements for studentship (admission requirements, course curriculum, examinations, and discipline) and graduation requirements in the Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes are the same as those for Full-time programmes in the University accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC). All academic programmes and matters affecting students of the School of Continuing Education are regulated and approved by the Senate of the University of Uyo.
The School is administered through a well structured organogram comprising the School Management headed by the Director who reports to the Vice-Chancellor, statutory Academic Committee (equivalent of Faculty Board) and the Board of the School of Continuing Education chaired by the Vice-Chancellor. The School Board governs the activities of the School, through policies, budgeting and capital projects.
