(1) Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Biochemistry
Admission Requirements:
(a) UME Entry Requirement for
The UME entry requirements for the B. Sc. (Hons) degree in Biochemistry are five credits at ordinary level (Senior School Certificate Examination organized by WAEC, NECO or other recognized examination bodies) including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English Language obtained at not more than two sittings.
(b) Direct Entry Requirements
Candidates seeking admission into the Department by direct entry should possess, in addition to ordinary level requirements, one of the following:
- General Certificate of Education at Advanced Level in at least two relevant subjects.
- B. Sc. Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) obtained from a recognized institution in the following subject areas: Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology, Botany, Zoology, Food Science and Technology and Food Engineering.
(2) Master’s Degree (M.Sc) in Biochemistry
Admission Requirements:
An applicant for admission to the M.Sc. degree of the Department of Biochemistry shall satisfy the following requirements:
(a) Be a graduate of the University of Uyo, or any other university recognized by the Senate of the University of Uyo.
(b) Possess a good Second Class Honours degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry or related discipline. Also candidates who hold PGD with a minimum credit level pass in Biochemistry, Chemistry or related discipline may be considered with the approval of Senate.
(3) Doctorate Degree PhD in Biochemistry
Admission Requirements:
- To be admitted into the Ph.D Programme, a candidate should have
successfully completed the M.Sc Programme and obtained a cumulative
grade points average of at least a “B”. The candidate must be M.Sc.
graduate of the University of Uyo or other institution recognized by
Senate of the University of Uyo. Such M.Sc. degree must be in a
relevant field.
