PROGRAMMES OFFERED WITH ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
a) PRE-DEGREE: (Full time)
Admission Requirements:
Five (5) credit passes, three (3) of which must be in the sciences at the ‘O’ Level. The candidate must have taken the UTME/UME for that year and scored a minimum aggregate of 160.
The candidate must also have made University of Uyo one of his/her choices.
b) B. AGRIC. IN: ANIMAL SCIENCE (Full -Time)
Admission Requirements:
- Through UTME/UME: Candidate must have five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology OR Agricultural Science and one of Physics, Economics or Geography at the SSCE, WASCE, NECO or any other approval equivalent examination at not more than two (2) sittings of any or a combination of any two of the approved examinations together with a relevant pass in the UTME/UME.
- Through Remedial: Candidate who successfully completed the Remedial Programme of the University of Uyo and passed the relevant subjects shall be admitted into Year 1 of the Five (5) year degree programme.
- Through Direct Entry: Candidate is required to have two (2) ‘A’ Level passes or equivalent in Chemistry and one of Biology, Botany, Zoology, Agricultural Science, Geography, Mathematics or Economics in addition to the UTME/UME requirement.
Candidate with ND (Upper Credit), HND, or NCE (with merit pass in relevant fields) plus UTME/UME requirements may also be admitted. The above-indicated certificates shall be admissible only if obtained from institutions recognized by the Senate of the University of Uyo.
Admission into the Direct Entry Programme shall be by application through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
- Through Transfer Admission: Candidate with adequate qualifications who wishes to transfer from another recognized institution to the Department shall be admitted into either Year I or Year II depending on qualification and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). Such a candidate must fill out the necessary interuniversity transfer application forms and submit an official transcript from the former institution. There is no transfer admission beyond Year II.
- M. SC. IN ANIMAL SCIENCE: (Full - time) with research areas and/or specialization in: Animal Biochemistry and Nutrition, Animal Breeding and Genetics, Animal Production and Management [with specialization in cattle (Beef and Dairy) Production, Micro-livestock Production, Poultry production, Pig (Swine) Production, Small Ruminant Production], Animal Physiology, Animal Products Technology (Meat Science and Dairy Science).
Admission Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or any other Nigerian Institute of Animal Science (NIAS) registrable discipline with an acceptable second class honours grade point from University of Uyo or any University recognized by the Senate of the University of Uyo.
- Ph. D. in Animal Science (Full - time) with specialization in:
Animal Biochemistry and Nutrition
Animal Breeding and Genetics
Animal Production and Management
(to specialize in:
- Cattle (beef and dairy) Production,
- Micro – livestock Production,
- Poultry Production,
- Pig (Swine) Production, and
- Small Ruminant Production)
Animal Physiology
Meat Science
Dairy Science
Admission Requirements:
A first degree in Agriculture (Animal Science) or related field in addition to an M. Sc. in Animal Science with an average grade of not less than ‘B’ from the University of Uyo or any other institution recognized by the Senate of University of Uyo.
